Oct. 23, 2017
QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading the St. John’s women’s soccer team to a pair of wins, redshirt freshman goalkeeper Jordan Kamp earned her second-consecutive BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll spot, the league announced Monday.
Kamp, who was named to last week’s honor roll after shutting out Seton Hall, led the Red Storm to a pair of wins against Villanova and Xavier.
The Allentown, Pa., native stopped a total of 11 shots in two games to lower her goals against average to 0.95 on the year with four clean sheets.
Against the Wildcats, Kamp made five stops as the Red Storm claimed a 2-1 victory on the road on Thursday. Then, on Sunday, the redshirt freshman turned in a stellar performance, making six saves as the Johnnies defeated Xavier, 1-0, in double overtime. Three of Kamp’s six saves came in overtime as the rookie made a pair of stops in the first extra session before rejecting a shot in the second overtime that eventually led to the game-winning counter attack.
Kamp and the Red Storm wrap up the 2017 regular season on Thursday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Chicago to take on DePaul. If St. John’s earns a win or draw against the Blue Demons, the Red Storm qualifies for the 2017 BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship. Fans can catch the action live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with first kick set for 4 p.m. ET.
