Kvilhaug on Berger entering 2009: "Jenna is solid defensively and will make a serious push as a starter at either short or second. She's had some great experience and success with her travel ball club against top players in the country and we hope the transition to the college level is minimal. Offensively Jenna has been working hard on her swing in the offseason and we see her hitting for average in our lineup."
As a Freshman in 2009: In first season with team, played in 47 games, starting 44 and seeing action at shortstop and second base... recorded first career hit and RBI vs. Michigan State (Feb. 14)... finished season with four multi-hit games... went 2-for-3 with three RBI at DePaul (March 21)... ranked fourth on team in RBI (17) and on-base percentage (.300) and tied for fifth in walks (10)... tied for fifth on team with four steals and was second on team in HBP (6)... defensively was third on team in assists (34) and fielding percentage (.991).
Before St. John's: Four-year letterwinner at Long Beach Poly ... team captain as a senior ... four-year defensive player of the year ... offensive player of the year in 2007 and 2008 ... played volleyball for two seasons ... led softball team to its first championship in school history in 2006.
