Santiago comes to Queens after four seasons with Florida State.
Assistant Coach Tommy Santiago is in his first season with the Red Storm, and will be in charge of defense as well as recruiting efforts and the team's camps and clinics.
Santiago joins the Red Storm after spending the past four seasons with Florida State. During his time in Tallahassee, the Seminoles compiled a 158-90 (.637) record, made four trips to the NCAA Tournament and took home the 2011 ACC Tournament crown. In his role as assistant coach, Santiago served as a camp director, worked with the infield and outfield, prepared scouting reports and set up the defensive alignments.
Prior to joining the Seminoles, Santiago served as an assistant softball coach for South Suburban J.C. in South Holland, Ill. for one season and also spent two years as the Tournament Director for the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic hosted by UNLV.
Santiago began his coaching career with a four-year stint as the varsity baseball coach at Homewood Flossmoor High School, a time in which he also served as an instructor at Diamond Sports Academy.
A 2003 graduate from Campbellsville University with a degree in exercise science and sports medicine, Santiago earned all-conference honors as a member of the baseball team.
