Aug. 27, 2012
QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's softball head coach Amy Kvilhaug announced on Monday the hiring of Bob Guerriero as an assistant coach beginning with the 2012-13 school year. He will be in charge of the outfield and hitting, while assisting in recruiting and administrative tasks.
During his time with the Pirates, Guerriero directed and implemented infield and outfield strategies, worked with the pitchers as required, assisted the head coach in all aspects, served as a base coach and performed several other vital administrative functions that helped SHU to five BIG EAST Championship appearances, including titles in 2004 and 2005.
During his early years at Seton Hall, Guerriero also served as the Coach and President of the Girls Softball League of Westfield in Westfield, N.J. From 1992-2004 he served as the Parkway Invitational Softball League Director, coaching several travel team squads during that time.
After a four-year career as a starting pitcher at Kean University - where he served as captain and was an All-NJAC honorable mention - Guerriero played three summers of semi-professional baseball.
The St. John's softball team will be in action for fall exhibitions beginning September 15 at Red Storm Field, where fans will have an opportunity to see the 2013 squad and coaching staff in action. For all the latest news on the Red Storm Softball team, log on to RedStormSports.com and follow the team (@STJ_Softball) on Twitter.
