St. John's Host 100-Out Fundraiser Game Thursday|
Oct. 4, 2017
QUEENS, N.Y. -The St. John's softball team will host its 12th annual 100-out fundraiser game on Thursday at 3 p.m. from Red Storm Field.
The proceeds raised on Thursday will supplement the travel budget for the season, which features a trip to California. The goal is to raise $8,000 in order to give the Johnnies an opportunity to compete against traditional powerhouse teams and improve their RPI to help take the program to the NCAA tournament.
The game will be run as a practice scrimmage, with the players being split into two squads and playing until 100-outs are recorded. Donors will be given the opportunity of either donating per-out or a flat-rate donation.
The event will not only serve as a fundraiser, but also gives the team a chance to practice various in-game situations to help prepare them for the upcoming season.
Since 2006, the 100-out fundraiser has helped the softball program gather donations that have been used for items such as: A new pitching machine and a V-flex hitting system.
For those who are interested in contributing, donations are being accepted year round. A check can also be made payable to St. John's Softball sent to the address listed below.
