MOBILE, Ala. – Despite the continued winning streaks of two Red Storm women’s tennis players, St. John’s could not get past South Alabama, 4-2, on Wednesday morning in a match that was originally scheduled for yesterday afternoon. The Red Storm drops to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST on the season while USA improves to 8-0 overall.
Senior Yanita Arnaudova put SJU on the board to tie the match score at one with a 6-3, 6-0 win over the Jaguars’ Mary Angela Martin for her fifth-consecutive victory at fifth singles. With the match already clinched for USA, freshman Anna Morozova picked up her sixth-straight victory with a win over Emily Newton, 6-4, 7-5, at the No. 3 slot.
