FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Returning home to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center after a three week hiatus, the St. John’s women’s tennis team saw a stellar performance from senior Khrystyna Pavlyuk as she went undefeated in singles play at the 2013 USTA Women’s College Invitational.
The Russian topped Nataliya Naumova of Delaware, 6-1, 6-2, and Rafaela Panizza of St. Francis (Pa.), 6-2, 6-3, in Draw C to give herself three singles wins on the fall.
Senior Diamond Adams gave her best performance of the indoor season over the weekend where she went 2-1. Adams defeated St. Francis’ Alexandra Sachs in three sets and Delaware’s Olivia Heim, 6-1, 6-3, in the round of 16 before falling in the quarterfinals to FDU’s Gisela Castany. Also tallying singles victories in Flushing Meadows were freshman Puck Vlaskamp, junior Nastya Polyakova and senior Yanita Arnaudova.
St. John’s will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17, for the first day of the ITA Northeast Regional Championship in Cambridge, Mass.
