As A Freshman (2017): Played in 113 sets and 31 matches, making 24 starts … ranked second on the team with 254 kills and 2.25 kills per set on a .209 hitting percentage … notched 15 service aces in BIG EAST contests to rank inside the top 20 in the conference …placed fourth on the squad with 70 blocks and collected 83 digs … ranked second among freshman in the BIG EAST in kills and points per set in conference showdowns … garnered BIG EAST Freshman of the Week (Nov. 7) … named the MVP of the Cornell Invitational and earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Sept. 12) … recorded a season-high 16 kills in a come-from-behind win in five sets at Xavier (Oct. 7) … registered a season-best .524 hitting percentage in a win over DePaul (Oct. 28) and notched seven blocks in a sweep over Colgate (Sept. 2) … collected 13 digs at Creighton (Oct. 20) and three service aces in a victory at Villanova (Nov. 4). 

At John Cooper: Set the school record for most blocks in a season in 2016 with 115 … owns the most career solo blocks in program history with 282 and highest career total blocks with 379 … in 2013 was named to the Prepvolleyball Frosh 59, which honors the best freshman high school volleyball players in the nation … member of the Houston Junior 17 Elite Volleyball team, where they finished the Open Division of USA Volleyball’s Girls Junior National Championship as the second best junior team in the country during the summer of 2016 … volunteered with the volleyball team for the “Side-Out Foundation” for all four years of high school and was named as an ambassador of the foundation for her senior year.

Off the Court: Born in South Africa … daughter of Barry and Karin Wood … has one older brother Mitchell (25) … nicknamed “Kales” … majoring in business with a minor in sport management … hobbies include singing, horseback riding, and watching and playing sports … an interesting fact about Wood is that she played the cello for 8 years in junior honor orchestra’s and “barrel raced” for 4 years … typical pre-game ritual includes listening to music to get her hyped up … the most influential person in her athletic career is her former coach, Ray Hedden, who saw her potential and really believed in her … he selected her off of the second team after her first year of club volleyball and told her she could be successful and become a starter … came to St. John’s because it offered her great opportunities both in her desired field of study (business/sport) and volleyball … she also loved the coaches and players as well … after St. John’s, she wants to work for a professional sports organization … favorite quote is “The wolf that wins is the wolf you feed” … favorite book is “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher … favorite food is fettuccini alfredo … favorite TV show is “Empire” … favorite movie is “Chasing Mavericks” … favorite professional athlete is JJ Watt … favorite song is “Sunday Candy” by Chance the Rapper … favorite professional team is the Houston Texans.
