SJU outsider hitter named AVCA All-America, AVCA All-Region First Team, All-BIG EAST First Team in sophomore season

As a Junior (2007): Played in all 37 matches ... recorded eight double-doubles on the season (seven with kills and digs, one with assists and digs)... 15 matches with double-digit kills ... 41 service aces ranked second on the team ... finished third on the squad with 2.88 digs per game and 0.63 blocks per game ... ranked fourth on the team with 2.88 kills per game ... registered double-digit digs on 17 occasions ... recorded 13-or-more digs in seven of the last eight contests ... had a double-double in two consecutive contests at CCSU (Aug. 29) and vs. NJIT (Aug. 31) ... came one kill shy of a triple-double with 18 assists, 14 digs and nine kills at CCSU (Aug. 29) ... set a then-career match-high in kills (16) to go with 11 digs vs. NJIT (Aug. 31) ... posted a double-double in the BIG EAST semifinals vs. USF (Nov. 17) with 13 kills and 13 digs ... had a career match-high 18 kills and recorded another double-double with 14 digs on national television in the BIG EAST Championship match vs. Louisville (Nov. 18) ...ranked eight in the BIG EAST with 0.38 assists per game during conference matches.

As a Sophomore (2006): Sat out due to NCAA transfer regulations.

At St. Peter's College: Played in 102 games with the Peahens ... ranked 10th on the all-time career list for kills per game (2.51), sixth in total assists (766) and service aces per game (0.43) ... ranked ninth all-time with 762 assists in a single season and sixth with 364 digs in a singles season ... received second team All-MAAC honors as a freshman. At School No. 739: Played as an outside hitter and setter at School No. 739 in Moscow ... captained her high school team in 2004 ... member of the volleyball team from 2001-04 ... helped her team to Moscow Championships in 2001 and 2004 ... member of the 2004 Russian Championship team ... named Championships of Russia MVP and best server in 2004.

Off The Court
Kovaleva, a sport management major, says winning the BIG EAST Tournament and making it to the NCAA Regional Semifinals were the most memorable moments of the 2007 season. While away from volleyball, she enjoys watching movies, reading, shopping and snowboarding. She lists "Takeshi's Castle", "LA Ink" and "America's Next Top Model" as her favorite TV Shows and "Calabria" by Enur & Natasha as her favorite song. She hopes to help lead the team to the NCAA National Semifinals next season.
