Christieen Walch enters her third year as graduate assistant for the St. John's volleyball team. As a starting member of the New York University squad as an undergrad, Walch has plenty of experience in volleyball at the collegiate level;. With NYU, Walch landed on the program's career top-10 list in both service aces per game and digs per game.
As graduate assistant Walch assists in game management, trains and recruits. She is also responsible for coordinating travel and lodging arrangements, drafting newsletters, and obtaining commercial sponsorships with local retailers.
Walch is studying for a career in law. Among her many experiences, she served as a legal intern for Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS), where she assisted with advocacy for young women who are at risk for or involved in exploitation and violence. She also served as a liaison between GEMS and members of the criminal justice community, such as judges, district attorneys, case managers, and resource coordinators.
A 2003 graduate from New York University with a B.A. in economics and computer science and a 2005 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a M.S. in science and technology commercialization, Walch is currently a candidate for Juris Doctor at St. John's University School of Law.
