PROVIDENCE, R.I. - St. John's volleyball senior Darlene Ramdin has been named to the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team, while the Red Storm was selected to finished 10th in the annual BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The votes were cast by the league's 15 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own squads.

A Second Team All-BIG EAST selection a year ago, Ramdin led the Red Storm in all major statistical categories including kills (256), hitting percentage (.261) and blocks (119). The 6-foot-2 middle hitter is currently ranked ninth in all-time kills with 879 and eighth in all-time blocks with 278 at St. John's.

STJ finished the 2010 campaign with an overall record of 18-13 and tied for ninth in the conference with a 5-9 mark against BIG EAST opponents. The Red Storm returns 12 letterwinners, including five starters from a season ago, and welcomes seven newcomers to the squad.

St. John's opens its season on Aug. 26 when it travels to Annapolis, Md., for four matches at the annual Kristen Dickmann Invitational. The Red Storm will play Iona, Air Force, Bowling Green and invitational host Navy at the tournament. STJ opens BIG EAST Conference play at Louisville on Sept. 23 at the KFC Yum! Center.
