QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's senior Wioleta Leszczynska was named to the 2008 BIG EAST Volleyball All-Tournament Team for her performance in the conference tournament this past weekend in Pittsburgh. Leszczynska, who was named the 2008 BIG EAST Player of the Year before competition on Thursday, recorded 79 assists in the Red Storm's two matches, as STJ made it to the semifinals before falling to Notre Dame, 3-1.

The senior set up a match-high 38 assists and registered two kills, a .400 hitting percentage and four digs in St. John's quarterfinal win over USF, 3-0, on Friday. The next day, she bettered her marks with 41 assists, six kills, a .556 hitting percentage, five digs and four blocks in the 3-1 loss to the Fighting Irish. Her 11.29 assists per set was slightly under the 11.58 mark that ranked her ninth in the NCAA and first in the conference going into action this past weekend.

In 2007, Leszczynska was named the BIG EAST Tournament's Most Outstanding Player and also earned a spot on the all-tournament team. She currently has 4,371 assists in her three-year career at St. John's, which ranks third all-time in the Red Storm record book.

The St. John's volleyball team will learn its fate on Sunday, Nov. 30, when the NCAA unveils its field of 64 teams for the 2008 Division I Volleyball Championship. The brackets will be released live on ESPNU at 10 p.m.
