The St. John’s University women’s basketball team fell on the road at Boston University, 83-64, Sunday afternoon at Case Gymnasium. Tiina Sten led the Red Storm with 17 points, while Recee Mitchell scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds in her first collegiate game.

St. John’s started strong and jumped out to a 6-0 lead after back-to-back baskets by Sten and two free throws from Monique McLean. After McCorvey converted one of two free throws, Boston responded with back-to-back 3-pointers and pulled within one point, 7-6, with 16 minutes left in the first half.

From there, the Terriers used good outside shooting and benefited from four first-half 3-pointers by Kristi Dini and took a 12-point lead into the intermission, 42-30.

In the second half, Dini had the hot hand again, knocking down two treys to give the Terriers a 56-38 with 13 minutes left. At that point in the game, the Case Gymnasium fire alarm went off and the arena was evacuated. Following clearance from the Boston Fire Department, the game resumed with the Red Storm facing an 18-point deficit.

For the remainder of the half, the Red Storm would get no closer than 14 points, and the Terriers won by an eventual score of 83-64.

Angel Tate was also in double figures for St. John's with 11 points.

BU was led by Dini with 24 points.

St. John’s is back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 20, when it faces the North Carolina Tar Heels in Myrtle Beach, S.C.  Tipoff from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
