Kaitlin Schmidt begins her second year as a graduate assistant
coach on head coach Ian Stone’s staff.
Schmidt, a four-year standout for the Red Storm, graduated in
2006 as one of the most decorated women’s soccer players in recent
St. John’s history. She ranks in the school’s all-time Top 10 lists
for goals (10, 2002) and assists (11, 2001) in a season, as well as
the career record books for goals (20), points (59) and assists
(19).
In 2002, Schmidt was named the BIG EAST Conference’s Rookie of
the Year, and remains the only St. John’s women’s soccer player to
earn one of the league’s major awards. In addition, she was named
to the SoccerBuzz Magazine Freshman All-America second team and the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast
Region third team that year.
