Head softball coach Amy Kvilhaug
has announced the signing of outfielder Erin Harris to a National Letter of
Intent. Harris will join the incoming class of Linzee Sumrall, Chelsea Plimpton, Kathryn Lawrence and Kacee Cox, bringing next season’s rookie
class to five.
As a member of the Mater Dei High School softball team in Santa
Ana, Calif., Harris’s squad was the three-time Serra League
Champions. After hitting .307 in 2006, she posted a .400 batting
average as the starting right fielder in 2007. She also contributed
41 hits and 11 home runs. Harris recorded one multi-home run game
this season and another long ball in the 2007 Tournament of
Champions. In travel ball, Harris played for the American Athletics
18, where she hit .378 with 19 home runs during the winter
season.
“In order to establish the foundation for success, recruiting
talented student-athletes and quality people is of utmost
importance,” said Kvilhaug. “We feel that Erin is going to make an
immediate impact in our lineup. She is a versatile athlete who
could see time at either third base or in the outfield. Erin has
great game sense and loves the game of softball. I really look
forward to having her around.”
