As a Junior in 2006: Led the
pitching staff with a team low 2.86 ERA, 49 earned runs and 28
walks … struck out 66 and held opponents to a .300 batting average
… posted a 7-6 record … appeared in 29 games for the Red Storm,
pitching 120.0 innings … registered two complete game shutouts on
the season … led St. John’s to its first win against a ranked
opponent, then No. 19 Louisville, in more than three seasons (March
31) … helped St. John’s secure a victory in its home opener against
St. Francis (March 15) … fanned a career high eight batters against
North Florida (March 12) … was dominant over ranked opponents all
season, allowing no earned runs in appearances against No. 17
Nebraska (March 10) and No. 24 North Carolina (March 11) … earned
her first win of the season in a 10-0 shutout of Boston College
(March 7).
As a Sophomore in 2005: Made
14 appearances in the circle before being sidelined with an injury
to her pitching shoulder … posted four wins and four losses in 10
starts last season … also earned one save coming out of the pen …
led the team with a team low 2.21 ERA and held opponents to a .246
batting average … struck out 21 over 50.2 innings.
As a Freshman in 2004: Lerch saw
action in the circle during 11 games, starting one … posted a 2.19
earned run average and held opponents to a .222 batting average
against … struck out 18 over 22.1 innings … tossed a no-hitter vs.
Sacred Heart (April 28) in her first collegiate start, striking out
six and walking only one.
Before St. John’s: A
three-year letterwinner in softball at North Shore High School,
along with a four-year letterwinner in volleyball and one year in
track and field … led the softball team to a 16-4 record in 2003,
the most wins in school history … set the school record for
strikeouts in a season with 206 over 106 innings pitched, while
posting a 0.58 earned run average … led the team with a .484
average, adding three home runs and 18 RBI … awarded Newsday’s 2003
Kathy Delgais-Butler Award as Nassau County’s Best Pitcher … 2003
All-Long Island selection, along with being named to the senior
all-star team … two-time North Shore High School MVP and two-time
All-Nassau County selection … 2003 North Shore High School
Outstanding Athlete of the Year … awarded 2003 President’s
Award for Educational Achievement.
Personal: Born in Mineola,
N.Y., to Russell and Patricia Lerch … has three siblings, Russell
Jr., Jennifer and Tammy … both sisters played collegiate softball
locally … chose St. John’s because it is strong in academics and
athletics … Majoring in Fine Arts.
