QUEENS, N.Y.
The St. John’s men’s and women’s tennis teams have spent much of
their time off the courts this season serving the community. The
squads participated in the University’s annual Service Day, the
fifth annual Fun Run, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk
and most recently visited the Bayside Senior Center to paint a
couple of classrooms.
“It was very uplifting to see the men’s and women’s tennis teams
collaborate for a good cause,” said women’s tennis head coach Allison
Davidson. “We were pretty much an assembly line of priming,
coating and trimming. The teamwork factor really played a big
part.”

Earlier this semester, the women’s tennis team donated over 100
tennis balls to Mrs. Mary Brown’s third grade class at The
Stratford Avenue School in Garden City, N.Y. The tennis balls were
used as bottoms for the student’s chair legs so that they wouldn’t
scratch the floors and would lessen the noise in the classroom.
The students in Mrs. Brown’s class wrote to Coach Davidson and
the team to thank them for their generous contribution. To view
