Queens, N.Y. - The St. John's volleyball team, in conjunction with the Women's Sports Foundation, will host "GoGirlGo!" Game Night on September 6, 2005. That night the Red Storm goes into action against the Jaspers of Manhattan College at 7 p.m.

GoGirlGo! is a national initiative designated to help girls make physical activity part of their lives. The mission of the GoGirlGo! campaign is to get one million girls between the ages of 8 and 18 physically active in the next three years.

"We are really excited to help the GoGirlGo! Campaign reach their goals," said head coach Joanne Persico-Smith. "We as female athletes know of the great benefits that come from being physically involved in sports and activities."

The Red Storm volleyball team looks forward to a great night and the amazing opportunity to get involved with the GoGirlGo! campaign and the Women's Sports Foundation.

The Women's Sports Foundation was founded in 1974 by tennis great Billie Jean King. The Foundation is a charitable education organization dedicated to advancing the lives of girls and women through sports and physical activity. The foundation's participation, education, advocacy, research and leadership programs are made possible by individual and corporate contributions.

This national event will be held at Carnesecca Arena on the Queens campus of St. John's University. GoGirlGo! giveaways will be available for all in attendance. Admission to the event is free.
