QUEENS, N.Y.
The St. John’s volleyball team has earned a spot in the CSTV/
American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll,
released on Monday. The Red Storm checked in at No. 24 with a 7-1
overall record. This is the second time in program history that St.
John’s is nationally ranked. The only other time they appeared in
the poll was on Nov. 13, 2006, when they debuted at No. 24.
After splitting the first two games of the season, losing the
second to sixth-ranked USC, St. John’s has ridden a six-game
winning streak to a 7-1 overall record. Their latest victory came
Saturday night over then-No. 24 Long Beach State, 3-1. With the
win, the Red Storm won the 2007 STJ Volleyball Invitational.
The Red Storm return to action Tuesday night, when they travel
to Stony Brook University to take on the Seawolves. The match is
scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
